Shutter speed is the length of time in which it takes to allow the shutter to open and close to allow a certain amount of exposure into the camera while taking a digital image. Fast shutter speed is often used in sport to capture a clear image which shows no movement. Slow shutter speed captures movement.

fast-and-slow-no-captionIn the image, the photo to the left is slow shutter speed, because you can see the movement in the waterfall, and it almost gives it a blurred effect. The image to the right has been taken with fast shutter speed, because its a crystal clear show and you can’t see any moment in the image.
